Mr. John Lukonde Chongo is a national and international Higher Education, Science, Research and Development (R&D), Technology and Innovation Expert. He holds a Master’s Degree in Leading Innovation and Change (MALIC) from York St. John University in the United Kingdom (UK), and Bachelors of Sciences (BSc) Degree (Pure Chemistry) from University of Zambia (UNZA). In his early career worked for six (7) years in the Industry, five (5) as a Lecturer at a polytechnic, and has over seventeen (17) years working under the Government Ministry responsible for Science, Research and Development (R&D), Technology and Innovation.    

Since 2016, he is the Deputy Director for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Technology and Science (MoTS) of Zambia. Has worked with seven (7) Ministers and eight (8) Permanent Secretaries responsible for Science, Technology and Innovation in Zambia. He is the focal point for Science, Research and Development programmes within the Ministry of Technology and Science. He facilitates the development, review and implementation of Zambia’s National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy.

He facilitates funding of R&D projects for scientists, and scientific youth innovations under the Strategic Research Fund (SRF) and the Science and Technology Innovation Youth Fund (STIYF) of Zambia, respectively.

He coordinates development of research infrastructure and Postgraduate Scholarship for the Development of scientists and researchers.
