Michael is a science communication manager at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA), a business unit of the National Research Foundation (NRF).

 

He has recently led the collaborative development of the NRF Engaged Research framework and has over a decade of experience in implementing science engagement and communication initiatives.

 

Michael has served on the management teams of the Cape Town Science Centre and Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg.

 

He is currently responsible for the implementation of a participatory-action research grant programme, a science journalism internship, the South African Science Lens, FameLab SA and the national science debating initiative, amongst others science engagement programmes.

 

Michael has an MSc (Entomology), BSc Hons and a BSecEd (Sci) from the University of Pretoria.
