Deidre Govender holds a Master’s degree in Medical Science, majoring in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She started her career at the Technology Innovation Agency as a project manager intern.

She advanced her career as a science communication fellow at AfricaBio where her core responsibilities were research analysis, marketing, and communications. She was a research lead for the National Vaccine Capability Audit in partnership with the Department of Science and Innovation and assisted in the planning and facilitation of one of the largest biotechnology events in Africa, the BIO Africa Convention. Currently, she is a Project Manager and Content Creator at Jive Media Africa.

She aims to use her scientific knowledge to advance the scientific body and community in Africa, and to help break the barriers in science communication through her passion for science and creative arts.
