Robert Inglis is passionate about facilitating dialogue between experts and the public which can lead to sustainable solutions and transformed lives.

 

To this end, he has spent the past 20 years working in the intersection of science and society, providing media and communications support to local and international researchers and research organisations. He has a Master’s in Science and Technology Studies, with a focus on Science Engagement at Stellenbosch University. He holds a National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) award for a “contribution to the discipline of science communication” for media produced through Jive Media Africa, a leading research communications organisation of which he is a co-founder and director.

 

Robert initiated the international FameLab “talking science” competition in South Africa in 2013 as well as co-founding the Science Spaza programme and Hip Hop U, youth engagement initiatives reaching thousands of learners throughout South Africa. He is a director of the YAZI Centre for Science and Society in Africa, a non-profit organisation which exists to broaden participation in knowledge production.
