Dr. Valentine Saasa is a nanomaterials research scientist at CSIR, where she is focusing on screening nano-materials for their potential use in non-invasive diagnosis of diseases such as diabetes mellitus, cancer, etc. She holds a PhD degree in Biochemistry from University of Pretoria. She is a recipient of several awards in science, technology and innovation such as South African Youth Awards 2018 (NYDA), South African Women in Science2017 (DSI),200 young SA changer-makers, Mail and Guardian 2022. She also holds science communication certificate from Stellenbosch University. She was one of 20 young South African Scientists who were selected to attend the Lindau Nobel laureates meeting in Germany in 2019.

Dr. Valentine has authored and presented her work in the area of medical diagnostics and nanotechnology locally and in the internationally accredated journals.  For her leadership roles, she is the Director and founder of Capricorn Edu Centre, an NPO which helps young people from rural area to discover their potentials and promotes Science, Technology, Innovation and Mathematics. She is the President of Accelerators Toastmaster Club, an orgnanisations that empowers individuals to become great communicators and leaders.
