Siti Hasliah is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Her academic background was in Health Physics, which focuses on the use of nuclear and radiation for healthcare. She acknowledged the significance of radiation and nuclear power in healthcare, and was also concerned about the dangers they posed if not managed properly. While many of her classmates were interested in the science and technology of radiation and nuclear, her attention remained on social science. Her employment at UTM began in 2008 as a research officer, and after completing her Ph.D. in Policy Studies, she became an academician. She teaches the Foundations of STI Policy, Policy Development, and Research Methodology. She has participated in numerous policy-related research and consultancy projects funded by government agencies and private organizations. Her areas of interest in research include policymaking, monitoring and evaluation, disaster preparedness, and quantitative research instrument development.
