Kavwanga Yambayamba is Associate Professor of Animal Physiology, specializing in Growth and Developmental Physiology. He has over 30 years of experience in teaching and doing research at university level. Apart from academic experience, he has univertsity administrative experience, having served in various capacities including Head of Department, Assistant Dean (Research), Faculty Dean, and Registrar.

Prof. Yambayamba is a Founding Member of the Zambia Academy of Sciences which was established in 2005. He is now Fellow and President of the Academy. Under his leadership, he has played a a critical role, having taken the Academy to higher heights and being established under an Act of Parliament. It means the Academy has a bigger voice and more visible in government circles.

Prof. Yambayamba is also President of the Agricultural Institute of Zambia, a professional body that regulates the profession of agriculture. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the National Biosafety Authority, a body that regulates importantation and exportation of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
