Asst. Prof. Dr. Simge Davulcu

Asst. Prof. Dr. Simge Davulcu is a scientist from Cyprus. She has a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Bath, United Kingdom. She studied 'Master of Chemistry with Industrial Training' as an undergradute degree. As part of her undergraduate degree, she has completed a year-long placement in the Analytical Sciences Department at GlaxoSmithKline. She has recently completed a summer post-doctoral research project in the area of mechanochemistry at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia/Italy. She is currently holding an Organic Chemistry Lecturer position and is the Head of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Department of Pharmacy at The American University in Cyprus. Her main research interest is in developing novel, atom-efficient catalytic processes for the formation of C-N bonds in pharmaceutically important molecules. She also has a big interest in Science Diplomacy, and is the founder of Science for Peace Initiative in Cyprus, together with Greek Cypriot scientists.
