Professor Stephanedes is a specialist in Intelligent Transportation Systems and Smart Cities and Communities with specialization in Information, Management, Control and Safety Systems, especially in infrastructure-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-vehicle communications, as well as in the strengthening of individual and collective intelligence. Previously he was for 20 years at the University of Minnesota USA, one of the founders of IVHS/ITS America. He directs the Connected Intelligent Transport Systems research group at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Patras, Greece.
