Dr. Ali Al-Sawalmih is an associate research professor at the University of Jordan since 2012 and the director of the Marine Science Station (MSS) in Aqaba-Jordan since 2018. He used to be also adjunct researcher at the Max Planck Institute MPIKG in Germany, where he has prior 5 years of experience as a researcher marine calcification. Al-Sawalmih pursued his higher education at the top research institutes in Germany; he obtained his PhD at the Max-Planck Institute MPI-E in Düsseldorf on 2007 and MSc at the max Planck Institute MPI-FKF in Stuttgart on 2004. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and reviewed many articles, and his research interest focused on impact of anthropogenic activities and climate change on marine environment, in addition to coastal management and diplomacy in science. Hiscontributions are mainly toward explaining the role of sustainable coastal development in mitigation of negative impacts of global warming on marine ecosystems.
