Dr. Sidy Ba is an Associate Professor at the National School of Engineers (ENI-ABT) of Bamako, Mali, and the Founding Director of the Laboratory of Chemical & Environmental Engineering. He earned his PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada). He received his M.Sc. in environmental engineering from Montana State University-Bozeman (MT, USA). He got his Bachelor in civil/hydraulic engineering at ENI-ABT and a post-graduate diploma in hydraulics at the International Institute of Water and Energy (2iE) of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Dr Ba’s research encompasses aquatic systems pollution and Nature-Based Solutions to remove contaminants of (re)emerging concerns, membrane technologies and processes for water and wastewater treatments, and Water Sanitation and Hygiene.

Dr. Ba is a Fellow-Chairman of the African Academy of Sciences ARISE grant from the African Academy of Sciences in partnership with the European Union (EU) and the African Union (AU). Under his ARISE grant, Dr. Sidy Ba and his research team will investigate field application of highly oxidative enzymes as a nature-based solution for environmental applications.

 

Dr. Ba is a member of several scientific organizations such as the Malian Society of Applied Sciences, African Membrane Society, and the RWESCK Excellence Center in Kumasi, Ghana.

 

Dr. Sidy Ba has graduated several Master’s students and he is currently advising 3 PhD students. He is committed to training and mentoring young Africans in Sciences, Engineering, Technologies and Innovation, particularly in water sciences and technologies for a sustainable environment in Africa.
