Thomas Banhazi completed his PhD studies at the University of Adelaide and worked as a Research Scientist at SARDI for 18 years before joining the University of Southern Queensland in 2010 as an Associate Professor and the Taiwan National University in 2022 as Full Professor. As part of his academic activities, Thomas has supervised 35+ postgraduate students and involved in the delivery of 8 under- and 4 post-graduate courses. Thomas also published in excess of 250 scientific papers and obtained 8 patents on a number of innovative technologies in the US, Australia and Europe. He is currently actively engaged in the commercialisation of his patented inventions via his private companies established in Europe and Australia. Thomas has been involved in approximately 40 international research projects both in Europe and Australia and his expertise is mainly related to Precision Livestock Farming applications and environmental assessment methods. He is the past Chair and current Honorary Chair of the CIGR "Structures and Environment" expert group, as well as the past president and current Vice-President of the Australian Society for Engineering in Agriculture. He is one of the Directors of a Beijing based International Research Centre and has additional visiting professorial positions in Europe and Asia.
