Liam completed his post-graduate studies in Prof. Jonathan Blackburn’s lab in 2013 focused on PBMC phenotyping of TB-IRIS associated samples. From here he spent two years in Ass. Prof Al Leslie’s lab at AHRI (then KRITH) focusing on proteomic signatures using both phospho and targeted workflows.Liam joined the CPGR in 2015 and has been running the proteomics unit there since 2016. In this time frame Liam has had a hand in the design, execution and delivery of hundreds of projects, encompassing thousands of samples that have led to a number of research papers, technical notes, white papers and patents.Liam has a dual position with DIPLOMICS and through this is involved in research infrastructure efforts under the umbrella of the SARIR program housed within the DSI. These efforts are focused on building a sustainable and effective OMICS based research infrastructure network in South Africa.
