Zbigniew Błocki is the director of the National Science Centre (NCN) since March 2015. Permanently, he is a professor of mathematics at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Main research areas are complex analysis of several variables and partial differential equations. He has worked in research centres e.g. USA (recipient of the Fulbright senior grant), Sweden, and Germany. Previously, he was a member of the NCN Council, member of the Science Europe Governing Board, director of the Institute of Mathematics of Jagiellonian University; Vice Chair of the Executive Organising Committee of the 6th European Congress of Mathematics in Krakow (2012). Awards: Zaremba Prize of the Polish Mathematical Society (2007), the Polish Prime Minister Award for exceptional scientific achievements (2008), Jagiellonian Laurel (2014).
