Dr. Franco M. Cabrerizo is a Principal Researcher at The National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET, Argentina) and an Associate Professor at the National University of San Martín (UNSAM, Argentina). He earned his BSc in Chemistry in 2002 and his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 2005 from the National University of La Plata (UNLP). Following his Ph.D., he undertook a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Center for Research in Carbohydrates (CIHIDECAR) at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA).

Dr. Cabrerizo's career has been marked by numerous research stays at prestigious institutions worldwide, including in China, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Spain, and Uruguay. Since 2006, he has been affiliated with CONICET, achieving the position of Principal Researcher. In 2010, he became the director of the Photochemistry and Molecular Photobiology Research Group at INTECH, and in 2013, he was appointed Associate Professor at UNSAM. Dr. Cabrerizo also holds leadership roles in scientific organizations, including as a member of the TWAS-LACREP Executive Council and Chair of the TWAS Young Affiliates Network (TYAN, UNESCO-TWAS).

Dr. Cabrerizo's expertise spans organic and physical chemistry, photochemistry, photobiology, energy research, and microbiology. His research primarily focuses on the molecular mechanisms triggered by UVA and visible light, aiming to develop biotechnological applications addressing significant health and renewable energy challenges.
