Dr. David holds a PhD in Biology from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and has a strong background on Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.

 

She is an academician at University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with major roles in teaching, research and consultancy in broader fields of Sustainable Farming Systems and Agricultural Biotechnology.

 

Dr. David is a science advocate and has served in diverse ambassadorial roles towards improving science culture and building capacity for youth and women in science and technology including the eLife ambassadorship program and Women in Tech Africa (WiTA). She is a member of the Next Einstein Forum Community of Scientists (NEF-CoS) executive committee and an inaugural NEF ambassador for Tanzania. She co-founded and is a member of the board of directors of the Tanzania Human Genetics Organisation (THGO), an initiative that aims at expanding human research and application in Tanzania and Africa in general.

 

She has received recognition for her works including Malkia wa Nguvu nomination (2018), Tanzanian sheroes (2018) and NEF women in STEM careers award (2022).

 

In her free time, she mentors young people in science and technology, especially young girls. When not in the lab, she enjoys reading, travelling and sharing knowledge through Wikipedia, blogging and social media platforms. She is an advocate of gender equality, diversity and inclusion in science as well as open science & knowledge.
