Andrea Dell’Orto is an environmental engineer and PhD candidate in the SARCHI Chair Waste and Climate Change group at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in Durban, South Africa.

Focusing on the biological treatment of organic waste for the production of hydrogen and methane, his work is part of several collaborations with national and international stakeholders, such as SANEDI, Durban Solid Waste, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and the World Bank.

After graduating from the University of Cagliari (Italy), he currently works as grant manager for several international partnerships of the SARCHI Chair and serves as project coordinator for the CAPTURE project with the Dutch NPO The Ocean Cleanup.
