Péter Dombi is chairman of the Committe of Laser Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and head of the Ultrafast Science and Applications Division at ELI ERIC. Since 2010, he has been instrumental in the preparatory and construction phases of the ELI laser facility in Szeged, Hungary.

Being an active experimental physicist, he pursues a research career at the HUN-REN Wigner for Physics in Budapest. He has longstanding experience in large-scale research grant management and research facility investments.
