Virgil-Florin Duma is professor, founder and director of the 3OM Research Group. He received his PhD cum laude from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara (UPT), where he graduated valedictorian in Fine Mechanics & Optics in 1991.  He was awarded in 2009-2010 a Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship at The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, NY, USA, where he is currently Visiting Researcher. Also, he is Honorary Professor at the University of Kent, UK, as well as adjunct professor at various universities, including at UPT as PhD advisor. He defended his Habilitation Thesis at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, in 2013. He is author of more than 65 papers in WOS journals (with a cummulated impact factor of more than 145), more than 130 conference papers in WOS, 15 books, and 2 patents awarded. Prof. Duma delivered more that 50 invited lectures at international conferences and universities. His research interests are in optomechatronics and biomedical imaging. He is a member of OPTICA, senior member of SPIE, and life member of the Fulbright Association.
