I am Peter Emeka Eze-Steven PhD. An academic lecturer and scientific researcher with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Enugu State, Nigeria. My research interest is on uterine leiomyoma (fibroid). My passion is investigating the application of UHPLC-QTOFMS based metabolomics towards understanding roles of diet and drug-derived metabolites on myometrial responses to uterine leiomyoma (UL).Myometrium has the potential to regenerate because of its presence of stem cells. However, myometrial stem cells (MSC) develop into leiomyoma when bound to the mutant gene known as mediator complex subunit 12 (MED12).My focus is to understand the role climate and environmental factors in leiomyoma initiation and using metabolomics to decipher the MSC-MED12 complex. This could lead towards chemotherapy for the treatment of UL which is a burden to reproductive-aged African women.
