Marco is the Head of the Science, Space and Arctic Team at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) where he currently has a main focus on science diplomacy.

 

He joined the diplomatic service in 2014. Prior to his current position, he was Head of the Political, Legal and Communications Team at the Swiss Embassy in London, and has also served for the FDFA in Hong Kong, Jakarta, Lima, New York and Berne.

 

Marco began his professional career in the private sector, with also a brief stint at the State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO). He studied economics, international relations and development studies at the Universities of Zurich and Lausanne, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and the London School of Economics.

 

Marco is married and has two children.
