Dr. Cate Flanley joined the United State's National Science Foundation in May 2022 as a Science Analyst in the Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE). Prior to joining NSF, Cate was a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow placed at USAID where she served as an International Research Advisor in the Bureau for Resilience and Food Security supporting large scale research investments in animal and crop health as well as led efforts in reporting research impacts. Cate is an infectious disease and vector biologist who earned her PhD from the University of Notre Dame in 2019. Immediately after graduate school, Cate worked as a consultant in South Bend, Indiana, managing a diverse portfolio including a rural opioid planning grant, website development for hospice community engagement, and data analysis for a non-profit Hispanic health coalition. As a former high school science public educator, Cate is committed to translating scientific research and its broader implications to diverse audiences.
