Dr.  Guillen obtained her Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Seoul National University and a Master’s in Food Science and Nutrition from Hallym University, South Korea. Later, she joined the BioMax Institute at Seoul National University as a postdoctoral researcher. Her major areas of expertise include cancer,  precision medicine, translational medicine, bioinformatics, diagnostic biomarkers, food science, and biochemistry.

She is the founder and president of various academic and scientific societies, such as the Peruvian Society of Scientific Researchers in Asia-Pacific (SAPPIENS) and the Peruvian-Korean Academic Association (ASAPEC). She has received various scientific awards, including research awards from the Korean Society of Cancer Prevention (KSCP) (2021-2022). She has been awarded prestigious scholarships such as the Global Korean Scholarship (GKS), SNU Global Scholarship Program, WooJung Education & Culture Foundation Scholarship, and the Brain Korea 21 (BK21) scholarship.

Dr. Guillen  has worked in science diplomacy, women’s empowerment, and project management. She has participated in international  programs organized by the Korea Foundation (KF), the East Asia Institute, Falling Walls Lab Seoul, The Association of Korean Women Scientists and Engineers (KWSE), and the Korea Public Diplomacy Association (KPDA), where she has led two initiatives: SAPPIENS, a network of Peruvian researchers in Asia and Oceania, and ASAPEC, which promotes academic opportunities for Peruvians.
