I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Cancer Genomics Group of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Cape Town Component. My current research, funded under the ICGEB Arturo Falaschi Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programme 2021-2023, focuses on the integration and application of multi-omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics) technologies to study Wilms Tumour (Nephroblastoma) which is the most common Renal Cancer in Children. This goal is to study WT in an African cohort to identify unique molecular signatures of the disease and novel biomarkers in-order to establish their role and association with aggressiveness and poor prognosis in the African population.

My ambition is to grow in this space and become an established research scientist committed to finding solutions to various medical problems and improving quality of health especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. I’m especially passionate about biomedical research aimed at finding solutions to improvements of health with a focus on cancer research specifically tackling the problem of timely diagnosis and treatment resistance in resource constrained areas.
