Dr. Ishizuka received Ph.D. of veterinary medicine in 1998 at Hokkaido University, Japan. Her specialized area is toxicology, and she has an interest in the xenobiotic metabolisms including species differences in phase I and II enzymes of cytochrome P450 and glucuronosyl transferase. In addition, her research subject is the effects of environmental chemicals such as heavy metals, POPs, food additives, pesticides, on “One Health”. Now, she is promoting research on environmental pollution and its toxicity abroad, especially in Africa. She is member of expert committees of Central Environment Council (Ministry of Environment), Pharmaceutical Affairs and Food Sanitation Council (veterinary drugs, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) and Food Safety Commission of Japan (veterinary drugs / food additives). She is also a member of the Science Council of Japan.
