Dr Martin Kaggwa is the Executive Research Director of the National Union of Mineworker’s (NUM) research institute, the Sam Tambani Research Institute (SATRI) in South Africa. SATRI undertakes multi-disciplinary research that has a bearing on the well-being of workers and workers’ communities, especially for workers in the mining, energy, construction and metal sectors.

Dr Kaggwa has more than 20 years of applied and academic research practise in the interdisciplinary area of economics and technology.  His current research focus is on national and sectoral implications of energy transition and 4IR-technologies impact on natural resources extraction in developing countries.

Dr Kaggwa holds a PhD in Technology Management.
