Prof. Sameen Ahmed Khan at the Department of Mathematics and Sciences, College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Dhofar University, Salalah, Sultanate of Oman. He did PhD on the Quantum theory of charged-particle beam optics, from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, India, under the supervision of Prof. Ramaswamy Jagannathan. He did Post-Doctoral research at the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Padova, Italy and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Cuernavaca, México. He has twenty-one years of teaching experience in Oman. He has single-handedly developed a unified treatment of light-beam optics and light polarization using quantum methodologies. This new formalism was among the thirty selected by OPTICA, the Optical Society of America for the Optics in 2016, highlighting the world-wide breakthroughs innovations in optics and photonics in that year. He was selected Senior Member 2020 OPTICA. Since 2021, he is being selected among the World Top 2% Scientists by the Stanford University based on the Scopus database citations under the Career-Long Impact Indicator and the Single-Year Impact Indicator respectively. He has authored four books; twenty book chapters; and over hundred technical publications in journals and proceedings. He has over 275 publications on science popularization. He is one of the Founding Members of the Ibn al Haytham LHiSA Light: History, Science and Applications International Society formed during the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies.
