Morakane Madiba is in the field of social and environmental education with monitoring and evaluation expertise in qualitative research. She has an extensive experience in water quality management for policy improvement. 

Her research interests are in mitigating poverty through engaging policy, science and public (e.g. youth development) discourse, whereby she foregrounds (ubuntu) ethics, justice and competencies.
