Abbey was born in Limpopo and bred in Ivory Park, an informal settlement outside Johannesburg in Gauteng. He attended school from crèche through to an honours degree in the area. That was until he moved to Stellenboch to pursue his Master's degree in Physics.    After graduating with Master's degree from Stellenboch University, Abbey is currently interning at Moipone Science Academy under NRF/SAASTA. His role in the organisation includes organising science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and innovation (STEMI) activities by various stakeholders, role players, and interest groups. Among other scientific community services, he has been facilitating the nanotechnology role modelling campaign in high schools around the country, hosting nanotechnology quiz competition, etc.   Abbey is a part of growing number of young scientists who are responsible for making discoveries  and advances in a wide variety of areas of science and making difference in fields of physics, astronomy, engineering, mathematics and research.
