My name is Dr Petunia Malatji, a Senior Lecturer at UNISA, the Department of Agriculture and Animal Health, and I am a coordinator of research and Master’s and Doctoral programmes. In addition to coordinating research and M&D programmes, my other work responsibilities involve teaching undergraduate modules at different NQF levels under Animal Science discipline and supervising postgraduate students. In addition, I am a member of Unisa Institutional Disciplinary Committee.

Currently, I’m enrolled for Master of Business Leadership with the university of South Africa. I obtained my undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications (MSc and PhD) in the field of Animal Health and Animal Science from Northwest University and University of Pretorial respectively. My research interests include parasitology, molecular biology and genomics and my research projects genomic approach to studying genetic resistance to infections in livestock animals of South Africa. I am passionate about education and my passion compelled me to register “Making Education Fashionable” enterprise, a vehicle I use to promote education (at all levels) and give back to the communities and touch the lives of many underprivileged children, youth and adults. In addition, I organize workshops and visit schools and universities to spread the message of education for all and I use radio platforms to educate smallholder farmers on how to manage their livestock.
