My name is Khomotso Mamashela, a Councillor in the Cape Town junior City Council and founder of Young Voice. Young voice is an organisation that aims to empower and motivate South African youth from underprivileged schools &  communities and keep them out of the streets through (Stem) science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Learners in these communities are constantly subjected to poverty, crime and substance abuse that it even affects their ability to finish school as they are conditioned to not see anything more for them, especially in the world of STEM. Young Voice's goal is to uplift these communities through their youth and eradicate such negative ideologies, simultaneously increasing the numbers of people of colour in maths and science career fields. I am also a junior City Council chairperson in the Cape Town junior City Council which is an initiative run by the City where we spend time dealing with socio-economic issues affecting the youth & learn about the workings of South African government and the city council. I am also the Founder of Ntsundu, which is an organisation that aims to educate and tackle issues of race in schools, encourage inclusivity & represent learners of colour.
