Rodney is currently the Director of the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) of South Africa. He is presently driving the programme to improve maths, science, and engineering for the Human Resource Development Strategy for South Africa.

He has previously worked as a Research for Information Systems and Telecommunication Technologies where he developed plans for skills needs and supply for the ICT sector.

He has worked in a number of senior management positions for education and training in South Africa. He is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the public and private sectors.

He holds a PhD degree in Business Administration specialising in team innovation and creativity from Hauzhong University of Science and Technology and a Masters Degree from Tsinghua University. His research interest is in science parks as well as innovation and creativity.
