I am a senior lecturer in Astronomy at the University of Cape Town, in South Africa, and the project scientist at the IDIA Visualisation Lab (IVL, https://vislab.idia.ac.za/). I have obtained a Ph.D. in Astronomy in 2012 from the University of Padua, in Italy, where I specialized in extragalactic astronomy and observational cosmology. My research focuses on multi-wavelength galaxy formation and evolution, strong gravitational lensing and big data visualization for astronomy (exploiting both planetaria and VR technology). In this context, I am an active member of several international consortia such us MeerKAT/MIGHTEE, EMU/ASKAP, Euclid, Rosa Rubin Telescope, 4MOST/4HS. I am also a passionate science communicator, SA coordinator of Soapbox Science South Africa promoting women in science (http://soapboxscience.org/) and of the SKIES project (https://science.uct.ac.za/articles/2022-04-04-skies-training-and-mentorship-programme). Finally, I am a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, a member of the International Astronomical Union, a member of the South African Institute of Physics and a member of the African Astronomical Society.
