Senior researcher at Institute of Landscape Ecology of SAS. Geographer, landscape ecologist, environmental politics. Scientific activity Coordinator and author of more than 40 projects, more than 1000 publications, more than 350 scientific presentations home and abroad. Selected projects: Ecological General Model of SR (1987); Atlas of the Landscape of SR (2002); Atlas of Representative Geoecosystem of SR (2006); GIS-based designing of ecological networks (2021), Atlas of the Natural Capital of Slovakia (2024). Pedagogical activity: Roskilde University Centre, Universität für Bodenkultur, Wien, Technische Universität, Wien, Szt. István Egyetem, Gödöllő. TU Zvolen, STU Bratislava, UK Bratislava, UMB Banská Bystrica. Environmental politics: Principles of first environmental politics of SR (1990), Principles of the Landscape Ecological Planning LANDEP and of Territorial System of Ecological Stability and theirs implementation to legislation. Responsible positions: In SR: minister of environment of SR (1998-2006); deputy to parlament of SR (2006-2010); prezident of Government Council of UNEP (1999 – 2001); vice-chairman of the Scientific Council of the European Centre for Nature Conservation (1995 - 1999); first president of the European Association of Landscape ecologist (2009 – 2011).
