Prof. Shaher Momani

Prof. Shaher Momani is a highly esteemed mathematician recognized globally for his pioneering contributions to fractional calculus. He earned his B.Sc. in Mathematics from Yarmouk University in 1984 and his Ph.D. from the University of Wales Aberystwyth in 1991, under the mentorship of Prof. Ken Walters, FRS. His academic journey began at Mutah University in 1991, progressing through various academic roles. Over the years, he has held key positions at several prominent institutions, including Yarmouk University, United Arab Emirates University, Qatar University, Ajman University and The University of Jordan, where he is currently a Distinguished Professor.
Prof. Momani’s research in fractional calculus has garnered worldwide acclaim, consistently ranking him among the top ten scientists in the field since 2009, as noted by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters). He has authored over 500 scientific publications and received numerous accolades, including being named a Highly Cited Researcher in Mathematics for five consecutive years (2014–2018) and being listed among the World's Most Influential Scientific Minds during the same period.
His outstanding contributions to academia have been recognized with several prestigious awards, such as the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers, the Ali Mango Distinguished Researcher Prize, and the Mittag-Leffler Award. In 2016, he was honored with "The Order of King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein for Excellence of the Second Class" and recognized as a Jordanian Star of Science in 2017
In addition to his research, Prof. Momani has held numerous leadership roles, including Dean of Scientific Research and Dean of the Faculty of Science at The University of Jordan, and Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences at Ajman University, UAE, from 2019 to 2023. He currently directs the Nonlinear Dynamics Research Center at Ajman University. A mentor to many graduate students, Prof. Momani also serves as an editor for over 35 international scientific journals. His ongoing contributions continue to shape the future of mathematics, solidifying his status as one of the most influential mathematicians of his generation
