Professor Chioma Nwakanma is a Professor of Environmental Biology and Toxicology at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. She is the First Female Professor and Head, Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology.  She rose through the ranks to become a full Professor on October 1, 2022 at the age of 41 years. She has over eighty - five scientific research publications in her chosen field and has supervised over 45 postgraduate students.  She has attended trainings and workshops in several countries and has been invited as speaker and panelist to different international institutions and organizations.  She is engaged in several professional activities and provides scientific expertise on environmental matters to government, non-profit organizations, industries, and stakeholders forum. She has contributed immensely towards the advancement of University education in Nigeria and the empowerment of the female scientists across her networks. She is the serving National Public Relation Officers in Nigeria for the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). Her research interest is in environmental toxicology, environmental biotechnology and water resources management. She is open to partnership, collaborations and growth that will enhance the set objectives of the organization.
