Professor Adebayo O. Olukoshi is currently based at the Wits School of Governance in Johannesburg as a Distinguished Professor. He has previously served, among others, as Director for Africa and West Asiaat International IDEA, Director of the UN African Institute for Economic Development and Planning, Interim Director of the African Governance Institute (AGI), Executive Secretary of the Council for Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), Senior Programme Officer at the Nordic Africa Institute, Senior Programme Staff at the South Centre, and Director of Research and Studies at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs. His research over the years has centred on the political economy of development in a comparative context; he has published extensively in this field. He has served over the on the boards of organisations and journals around the world, including the Scientific Committee of CODESRIA which he presently chairs. He is a Fellow of the International Science Council.
