Gloria Aderonke Otunola, holds a PhD degree in Biochemistry, is an NRF rated C2 researcher, Functional Foods Scientist and Professional Natural Scientist with over 25 years’ experience in teaching and research at the tertiary Higher Education level. She is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Fort Hare, South Africa whose research interests and focus has been on applied nutritional, biochemical and pharmacological evaluation and translation of medicinal plants, lesser known/underutilized food plants for their potential in preventing, treating and/or management of malnutrition and chronic diseases. She is currently involved in the formulation and development of Functional Foods, Beverages and Nutraceuticals tailored towards the prevention, treatment and management of malnutrition and specific chronic diseases. She has developed some functional products (snacks, beverages and supplements) which are at various stages of testing for acceptability and efficacy as well as IP and Patenting and is involved in collaborative inter- and multi- disciplinary research nationally and internationally. She is also researching the development and functionality of Bio-nanoparticles, control strategies for malnutrition, communicable and non-communicable diseases for the management of chronic diseases, and public health nutrition. adeglo2004@gmail.com
