Dr. Isaac Oyekola is a professional academic with over 30 scholarly publications and 6 years extensive university experience in teaching, research and community impact. His teaching philosophy is rooted in the principles of inclusive and active learning, scientific and critical thinking, as well as in loco parentis. With his background in Sociology and Anthropology, he has keen research interests in social change and development studies, reliable health care financing, healthy ageing, reduced inequalities, informal and public sectors. His PhD Thesis won him grant, and that has enabled him to impact his immediate communities more positively. Dr. Oyekola is a member of national and international organisations, and has participated in national and international conferences. His research is motivated by a desire to provide social support for the vulnerable elderly in order to ensure healthy ageing for this increasing demographic category in Nigeria, and reduce inequalities in the society. In one of his previous works, he investigated social support and health care financing for the elderly in Ibadan and found the need for social support provisions by household, community, state and non-state actors for elderly health care financing. The research experience provided him with valuable insights and methodologies that he intends to build upon in future research endeavors.
