I am Mellisa Pemhanukai, born on December 1, 1995, a Zimbabwean Environmentalist and Geographic Information Systems Specialist. I hold a BSc Honours degree in Geography and Environmental Science from the University of Zimbabwe and has a certificaton in Spatial Analysis and Mapping with R from WeMapper Geospatial Community in Kenya.

I have 4 years of experience in the NGO sector, specializing in GIS, natural resource management, climate change mitigation and community resilience building. Currently, l work as a GIS specialist for Albizia Consultancy in Chimanimani, Zimbabwe, focusing on nature based solutions and landscape regenerative initiatives. I have been also a focal person and a volunteer for the Chimanimani Biosphere Reserve project since 2021 contributing to key projects like Nature Plus for Nature Positive Food systems, development of a drought early action protocol and facilitating in the nomination of the Biosphere Reserve, which was recognized in July 2022. 

 

My career achivements include attending international forums such as the World Science Forum, Man and the Biosphere Youth Forum and the UNESCO Southern Africa's Be Resilient forum. I have skills in GIS, digital data collection, and environmental project management, and l am passionate aboout climate change adaptation and community development.
