Prof. Antoine Petit, President and CEO of the CNRS, Centre national de la recherche scientifique, France

After studying Mathematics; Antoine Petit graduated with a PhD in Computer Science from University Paris 7 and started his career at the University of Orléans. He then became Senior Lecturer at Université Paris-Sud in 1989 before joining Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay as Full Professor, as well as Head of the Computer Science department. Since 2002, he has held various positions: Deputy Director in charge of Mathematics, Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies at the French Ministry of Research; CNRS Scientific Director of the ICT Department; CNRS Inter-regional Director for South-Western France; Head of the Paris-Rocquencourt Research Center of the Institute for Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (Inria). He then became President and CEO of Inria in 2014. He has been serving as President and CEO of CNRS since 2018. 

 

Antoine Petit is Knight of the French Legion of Honour and Officer of the French National Order of Merit and Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Chile.
