My name is Rusana Philander and have been a journalist and photographer for 25 years. I have a keen interest in science and science writing.

Over the past years I have written many articles aboyt the development of science in South Africa.

I think that journalists should also inform communities more about the impact of science on their daily lives. A good example has been the role science played with the outbreak of Covid-19. It was through science that vaccines could be made.

South Africa is also making great strides when it comes to science innovation.  And is defnitely at the forefront of it in Africa. Examples of this are the Southern Large Telescope and the SKA. More still needs to be written about these great projects which will make people of this country very proud.
