Sharof Rajabbaev is the Director of the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation in Uzbekistan. With a robust background in economics and finance, he specializes in banking, international monetary relations, and credit systems. He is a Candidate of Economic Sciences and an Associate Professor, with advanced degrees from the Tashkent Financial Institute, Tashkent State University of Economics, and the Banking and Finance Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Rajabbaev began his career at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, where he served as an economist in the Center for Monetary Policy from 2001 to 2003. He went on to spend a decade as a senior lecturer and associate professor at the Banking and Finance Academy, further enhancing his expertise in economic education and research. Between 2013 and 2017, he directed the Research Center for Scientific Foundations and Problems of Economic Development at Tashkent State University of Economics, where he also served as vice-rector.
In 2017, Rajabbaev joined the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan as head of a branch focused on economic strategy and innovation. From 2018 to 2020, he was the first Deputy Minister of Innovative Development, leading initiatives in technological advancement and economic modernization. He then held various senior positions in the Cabinet of Ministers until his appointment in 2024 as Director of the Agency for Innovative Development. In his current role, he drives policies that integrate innovation into Uzbekistan's economic and educational landscape, fostering a culture of research, development, and scientific collaboration.
