Clarissa holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and a Master’s in Biomedicine and Neuroscience. She is deeply committed to bridging the gap between scientific discovery and impactful policymaking. She has specialized in creating science-policy interfaces and existential risks, as well as translating complex scientific concepts into actionable policies that address critical global challenges. Currently, her work focuses on safeguarding humanity and the environment from the threats posed by weapons of mass destruction such as it is the case for bioweapons. This has deepened her expertise in global risk management and the biorisks associated with emerging technologies. As part of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), Clarissa supports governments worldwide in implementing the Biological Weapons Convention, reinforcing her commitment to international collaboration and peacebuilding. She is passionate about this mission and believes that, together, we can create a safer and more peaceful world. Clarissa looks forward to connecting with like-minded professionals and institutions to advance a future where science and policy work harmoniously for the betterment of humanity and the planet.
