Professor Schicktanz is full-professor for Cultural and ethical Studies of Biomedicine at the University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany. She has been also elected in 2022 as president of the German Association of Medical Ethics. Her research focuses on ethics of science and technology, and its impact on health care systems, patients rights, and professional ethos.

 Risk, trust, autonomy, and responsibility are key concepts of her research and teaching concept.

She has international reputation, with various visting scholarships, among others at UC Berkeley, JNU India, Montreal Universite, and Tel Aviv University.
