She is currently Director for Strategic Partnerships at the Human Sciences Research Council. Dr Sekhejane holds a health sciences Doctoral degree in Biomedical Technology, and specialised in Biophotonics application in cancer and diabetic models, with advanced training from University of Illinois (USA). She is the chairperson of Gauteng’s Technical Committee War Room on Crime and Law Enforcement. Recently appointed onto UNESCO’s natural sciences committee, she is also research associate at the University of Johannesburg in the Applied Sciences Research Unit, Faculty of Sciences and co-supervisor of master’s candidates in faculty. She is also a member of Organisation for Women in Sciences Development, which champions and addresses the obstacles faced by women in developing countries. She is a former member of the women and gender cluster of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) an advisory organ to the African Union. Her interests are in health, sciences, research innovations, women and youth. Among her recent co-authored publications are “South Africa’s Vaccine Production Potential: Towards an Intra-BRICS Vaccine Production Framework” as well as “The Gauteng Province Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2019 Grade 9 Results”.
