Dr Hloniphile Sithole Mthethwa holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics, and is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN). She is supervising postgraduates students in biomathematics, fluid dynamics and numerical analysis. She was awarded a UKZN Wonder Women in Science Award in 2020 and was selected to be a Pathways to a Successful Academic Career Programme Fellow in 2021
