Dr. Inkyoung Sun leads the Sustainable Innovation Policy Research Office at the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), a government research institute under the Prime Minister’s Office in the Republic of Korea. Given her expertise in identifying and analyzing policy agendas arising from the intersection of Science Technology and Innovation (STI) and international relations, her research topics in recent years are research security and integrity, STI for global challenges, and science diplomacy.

 

Dr. Sun has served as a vice-chair of the OECD Global Science Forum and a vice-chair of UNESCO STEPAN. As a designated delegate to STI-related multilateral and bilateral dialogues, she has also represented the Republic of Korea as a delegation to the OECD Global Science Forum and Committee of Science and Technology Policy since 2020, as the head of delegation to the G20 Chief Science Advisers Roundtable (G20-CSAR) meetings in 2023, and as a research security expert to the Korea-Canada Joint STI Committee in 2024.

 

Dr. Sun holds a BS in Biological Sciences from Ewha Womans University, an MA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in STI Policy from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
