Dr Mathoto Thaoge is the Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Food technology at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) since November 3015. She has also worked for the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), the National Research Foundation (NRF), South African Agency for Science and Technology advancement (SAASTA) and the  University of Pretoria (UP). In addition to the her PhD, Dr Thaoge hold a Master of business Leadership(MBL)  from UNISA and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Higher education management from the Haaga Heelia University on Finland. She is involved in several reserach projects and supervision of postgraduate students. He r main reserach focus is on the use of biotechnology to improve the safety, nutritional and functional properties of foods, in order to address nutritional, food security and food safety challenges in the Soithern African region. She was part of the RRING drafting team member for the UNESCO DSI  (SA) initiative.
