Alessandra Tognonato is an Italian diplomat since 2001, currently serving as a Head of Science Diplomacy and S&T cooperation Office at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She served as Consul of Italy in Buenos Aires (2004-2007), as Deputy Head of political office in Berlin (2008-2012) and, after returning to Rome, as a Deputy Head of non-proliferation office.

Subsequently she was Head of the Consular Chancery and Coordinator for Migration in Cairo (2015-2018) and Head of the Press & Communication Office and Spokesperson of the Italian Embassy in Berlin (2018-2022).
